Thumbs down Fuel Pump question/aggrevation..

If you are upgrading to a Walbro fuel pump from a stock one, is it not necessary to change the sock when you put the new pump in?

I ask this because as most of you know, I blew my short block in my WRX and am now doing an STi swap. I purchased a new one (Fuel pump) for my upgraded engine, at a certain "local vendor" and it only came with the pump and cost me $115.52 w/tax, and it did NOT include all the other stuff that comes with the pump every where else for $99.00.

This certain "local vendor" told me it was not necessary to change it, which may or may not be factual, however the shop doing my build is selling me the COMPLETE KIT for $94.00. I went to return the 1st pump to the "local vendor" and got a crap load of attitude and was told that " I was selling them out for $3.00". Well in actuality it was more than $3.00 and I didn't appreciate the attitude I got from this "freindly neighborhood merchant", especially since I've spent well over $4,000 in the last month there getting all my parts.

For someone to get all bent out of shape over that shows me why many of you don't go to this person or esthablishment to purchase your "goods and services".

I'm not mentioning names of people or places since I'm not into promoting bad publicity for anyone. But I think its really crappy to give someone that much business and get treated that way.

I will definetly think twice before I go there again and drop that kind of money, (hopefully I won't have to), but you get the point.

If they treat too many people like that they will loose all their customers!

You can reuse it.

They should have included everything though for that price, not just the pump.

I know it may be reused , the point is, why pay more and not get a new one when I can pay less and get it all new, especially with what I've spent on this, I really don't want to risk doing anything half assed.

i feel you...i went through the same thing with most likely the same person and he argued with me about it and gave me attitude. needless to say i let his owner know and he happened to be standing there to hear some of our conversation....haha

no matter where you work you should always know "the customer is always right"....at least most of the time

exactly, and like wrxbdy just said why half ass it. you have all right to be pissed. personally i would say something to his boss next time. be polite and make a complaint. actions like that are in my eyes inexcusable. you have the right to return any part as long as it isn't used, and why pay more for less.

THANK YOU! My point exactly.

But I doubt things will ever change there. Many have complained and nothing changes. Plus next time I need something and thats my last resort, I don't want to wait a month of a wiper blade, lol. Not that that kind of stuff happens, but you don't want to push too hard sometimes.

Catch my drift.
