Default Question...

So my tires will be delivered tomorrow so I need a good shop(that's not stupid expensive) to put on my new wheels and tires and also do an alignment. Also, I need my oil changed. I have gone to Mastro in the past. Where do you guys recommend?

Tires plus did mine for $103 mount and balanced. Almost no place wants to do tires that aren't there's.

tell whoever to be careful with your wheels and make sure they will take resposability for the damage they do (if they do).

do NOT go to Tires Plus

I've gone there for nearly every one of my oil changes and to mount my new tires that i just recently purchased from them

Lets just say that they snapped one of the studs when putting a lugnut back on. in otherwords it was cross-threading and they idiot didn't notice that the airgun was woblling like a mofo. I used to work at a brake shop, so i'm familiar with what its like when you cross-thread a lug.

on top of that, after they did finally mount the tires and get the oil changed and align the wheels, i noticed as soon as i got on the road that the car was pulling to the right rather severely.

Soo... I drove straight back and said fix it!
They tried telling me that it wasn't the alignment and that the inner tie rod had completely come out of its housing and that i would need it replaced. in addition they "found" that my brake pads had uneven pad wear, indicitive of a caliper piston not completely retracting, thus causing the pad to be worn prematurely.

well, i used to work at a brake shop that shall remain nameless, but lets just say that they worked on just brakes
anyway, i checked the brakes and they were fine, while they were doing a road test a few minutes later the guy must have run over a couple of screws because lodged into my read tire was two big shiny screws sticking out about an inch off-center.

I point this out, only expecting a free patch-job because even according to their own pre-check of the car they didn't note any screws, and these were obvious.

Well they said they would be more than happy to give me a good deal on replacement tires, but that the screws were in such a position that they couldn't be repaired. Yeah, BULLSHIT. so i thanked them for absolutely nothing and left for my house where it took my 5 minutes to patch my tire and it has held up fine for the last 4 weeks.

also, took my car to a local shop that i love down in sarasota, Beiller's rules!!! they had my car checked up and re-aligned 20 minutes later

moral of the story is that I don't trust big name-brand chains or anything, especially mechanics!

I used to go to Tires Plus on N. Dale Mabry and never had any issues there and always got a good deal, but the mechanic I used to go to there quit. So now the prices are ridiculous.

I go to Auto Dynamics in Seminole for my tire mounting/balancing needs. They accept drop ship from a bunch of places too, so its convienant.

I was at XAT Racing today and they said they could do it for about $10 bucks each. See Mike Ranlet.

Big Tires & More on park blvd just west of 49th street has the new machine that doesnt even touch the rim. I had my tires mounted on my Volks there. I also know the owner, but that doesnt mean anything.
