Clutch release bearing, Fork question!
I have recently replaced my clutch, myself, for the first time. After I reinstalled my transmission, i noticed that the fork for the clutch release bearing has no tension on it, I can literally move it full lenghth back and forth. Is it supposed to be like that? I tried to take a look at my buddies sti, but short of removing the intercooler I am unable to reach it to test it. I am really in need of some info.
After taking the transmission back off, I discovered that there is a ring that sits around fingers on the pressure plate. This ring was not lined up correctly with the fingers which caused the ring to expand and was not clamping down on the clutch release bearing. I have since adjusted the ring and am now back in the process of putting the car back together. The first time replacing the clutch is not much fun, but the knowledge and experience after doing it is priceless.
thats cool u finally figured it out. is it back and running yet?

No, not yet. Alot of people of have given me excellent advice and assistance though. I definately did not do this on my own.
I am now having a problem with the gears not engaging when the car is running, it will when not on though. I am pretty much stumped now. Ill probably take it apart again and check the pilot bearing.
