So I found a VF30 that has no shaft play and spins freely, but when taken off the car and filled with oil, it would leak out the exhaust side. The guy that is selling it says the seals need to be replaced, however, when I called deadbolt up they said that just because the turbo leaks when you fill it up does not mean that the seals are bad. They said since the turbo is not spinning that when you fill it up with oil it may leak because of how the seal is designed.

I am curious to see if anyone else has had this problem with a vf30? Also is what they are saying at deadbolt true, and maybe the turbo is still in good condition?

i would think it would have shaft play if the seals were bad...but i might just have it inspected anyways we'll see...

 

ok well i bough the turbo for cheap and am sending out to deadbolt in a week....so look at the other thread i started about service options for the turbo if you want. also if anyone else has any advice about these turbos just let me know. thanks
