Yes that is normal. For one you have no cats anymore to supress the backfire. Plus SRQWRX is on to something because if you have a BOV that doesnt cerculate back into the intake tube the ecu still thinks its getting that extra air so your getting more fuel. Thus more unburnt fuel that helps feed the backfire. Keep in mind even if you dont have a BOV it still will backfire so dont lose any sleep over it.

Its still going to pop even when your tuned. 19psi and Turbo back tuned I shoot fire balls out the rear.

ive got turboback (invidia v2 catless dp and magnaflow exhaust) ,GFB 50/50 BOV, and Snowmann tune and have that issue as well. usually shoots more black smoke than fireballs...depends.

well man, if you ask around, i shoot some pretty big flames out my exhaust haha. that is completely normal. and what sucks most, is that i can see the fuel just disappear too haha. Anyway, yes, the hks is making them louder. Sure, it isnt just the bov, but it does help.

it's mainly the BOV but even with the stock BOV I used to get some backfire just not as often
