Dont need and cant use with ecutek or AP. AP actually uses a similar way of doing things and uses its own software. With this way everthing is free excetp the cable. It is jsut as tuneable/powerful as any other way of flashing ecus. The main difference is ecryption. ecuTek encrypts its software/maps which tuners like since nobody can "steal" their tune

I am working with jestr for live dyno tuning and another guy for OTS maps. I will keep everyone updated with more detailed updates on subytech

good stuff charles.. anything for evos?

jestr is very big in the evo world. he is located in tampa. but he comes out here often to do flashes and tunes for evos.. once someone gets an awd dyno, jestr will be around here alot more often im sure of it. i have spoken to him several times about it aswell. and he'll be at the mitsubishi subaru meet.

thats not true for all cars. I believe the only subarus that ecutek encrypted the stuff was for the DBW cars. Most of you have those, but for those lucky few who jumped on the suby bandwagon earlier (02-03) can still use it even with AP or Ecutek. Just remember if you use accessport, as soon as you change the map via AP, you cant get it back without hooking your laptop back up, you cannot save it to your AP.

I cant answer on his tuning abilities, but yes there is OpenECU software (tunerpro, ecuflash, etc) that works for Evo's, you just need the correct OBD2 to USB cable designed for your car, along with the diagnostic connectors to flash your ECU.

KAX is exactly right. However, can you read an old ecuTek map with the cable and ecuflash? I am also not sure if you can write over an ecutek ecu with ecuflash correctly. And what you say about AP is dead on too, and more what I meant to say. I should have said, it will not help you to have either.

This is much easier in the Evo world. Check out the ecuFlash section of EvoM. There are several well know tuners including jestr that will do OTS maps or custom dyno tuned maps on ecuflash. You can also setup cool things like launch control on evos through these programs

I have to try it, I've got an 03 ECU with EcuTek...

Jestr needs to buy Mastro's Dynapack, its collecting dust...
