I would like top test the effectiveness of all my heat wrapping and need some help. I would like to compare engine bay temps and intercooler temps in a few different spots on my car VS a bone stock sti or one with just a APS TBE. So far I have wrapped the turbo and exhaust as best I can and place gold reflective sheilding on the inside of the heat shield, Y pipe, and intercooler end tanks.

What I need if anyone can help:

A temperature probe of some sort that I can tape in place and drive

A stock or close to stock 06 sti and a little spare time to drive around with me under equal conditions

 

I dont mean to Hijack this but how many feet did you use to wrap your downpipe.

 

Dont know...I used the whole 50 ft roll and got the turbo to the end of the resonator on the APS TBE.

BTW...anyone that uses this stuff, try not to touch your arms with it as they will itch and feel uncomfortable for hours. I think there is fibers in it similar to fiber glass.

 

You can get some cheap thermal couples (about 15' long) and tape/attach them any where. You can also get a cheap meter to plug them into. We have them at work. Unfortunately I work in Orlando.

 

Where would I get these and how much. Not willing to spend a lot of money on this. I Would like to be able to read this while driving. if the meter has some wire, and can put the sensor in place and tape the display to the windsheild so i dont ahve to run wires

Here is what we have at work. You can just attach the thermocouple to where ever you want to take a reading and run the wire into the car. We use the Fluke meter here.

Thermocouples:

I just realized the thermometer i have for my smoker may work. It reads temps in the range i am looking at and has a remote display that i can put in the car. I doest react very fast, but should do. It also has two probes
