Default 2.5 shortblock question

Anybody here running a ej257 shortblock with stock wrx heads? I've heard good things about the tq gains. Is the installation fairly easy as far as everything bolting up? Overall, how much WHP/ WTQ could i expect from putting on a stock 2.5 shortblock onto my 02 wrx stg. 4 (Utec, VF22, pinks, etc) with a good tune? Would upgrading to RA gears be sufficient enough or would i have to look out for an sti 6-speed?

*feel free to mention any other important notes regarding the swap.

i have that setup on my 02 wrx and i works great. i would get better gears and them cryoed. i am running with a vf34 and i love it there like no turbo lag. i have never dyno the setup so i dont know what kind of number i would put down but i have heard from someone that has your same setup he put down 315whp. he ran a 12.6 at the track.

did you go with a stock 2.5 or did you upgrade the rods and pistons? do you shift at 7 grand still or lower? Also, does the person who has my setup running the 2.5 or just 2.0? was the 12.6 on pump gas?

I didn't realize this thread was in the FOR-SALE section. Could a moderator please move it to the Subaru Tech section. Thanks.

i didnt upgrade i just bought it from subaru with new gaskets, belts. i still shift at 7k. but pdx told me i could shift at 72500 but i dont. the guys thathas your setup is running 2.5. ya pump gas.

u will need someone that know there stuff when building it. i had my engine done at subaru. i went with sti gaskets so my compression did go up.
