Default Need some opinions and Advice!

I am getting really bored with my car.....really quick. I have pretty much hit the limits of the 2.0 WRX, my only option for more safe power is adding meth. Now, I have been thinking of what my options. I have thought of purchasing a 2.5 shortblock and swapping the bottom end into my car and going with a 20g. Unfortunately that would require new injctors, the new turbo , tuning, plus the SB and all parts needed. The plus side is I keep my car and the amount I owe on it.

Now, my second option is to get a 06 WRX, my payment would stay roughly the same but I would be back in debt for more than I currently owe. If I got the 06 I would have the almighty 2.5l I would just swap most of my current setup over, I would still need to invest in tuning all over again but.... Later I would go FP green within the frst month or 2.

Both seem like good ideas, but I am torn between the 2. Discuss!

It all depends on you but IMHO I think 2.5>2.0 in regards to potential. If you can afford it comfortably then by all means get into a new car.

My advice: save more money. Like you said youre pretty much at the limit for safe power on a WRX.

You could go with an EJ257 shortblock and a juicy turbo, but what about your tranny? Its gonna go sooner or later on that setup. Trade-up to an '06 and you dont have the limitation of your WRX heads on the big 2.5L, but you do still have the 5spd, which by all accounts Ive seen has not been strengthened for the '06 (its still the same WRX tranny, just with double cone synchros on 1st gear). Add in a big turbo and you run into the same problem. The way I see it, if youre gonna do this right you have these options:

- used STi (assuming you can afford it)
- EJ257 shortblock, big turbo, and enough money for PPG gears
- '06 WRX, big turbo, and enough money for PPG gears
- or, stick with what ya got

Sucks that youre bored with your setup. when the modding bug bites its a tough thing to shake.

well my tranny has held up pretty well with my setup so far but the tranny is definetely a weak point. I have been pushing 21 psi on my vf22 for awhile with no problems yet. I have thought about going the 06 STi route but it is too much money for the car and insurance.....I would rather get a 06 WRX or keep my 2.0 for cheaper and be faster. My current setup hasn't had any problems against STi's yet
