Default Bov ?

i hear its not good to get a bov for a wrx. so basically if i could get a few opinions on that, i'd appreciate it. btw if i was to get 1 i wouldnt get the rfl one. something like the ssq i think where its kinda natural sounding.

You heard right. If youre going to get one, go with something that recirculates some or all of the air back into the intake like the stock BPV. Or save some more money and buy something that improves performance, as the stocker is just fine until youre pushing a lot more boost than stock.

I put one on my car to see what all the fuss was about and this is what i noticed: shifting was not as smooth, car hesitates during excel.,wasnt getting that good gas milage, car was letting out some mean backfires, and you run rich.

The funny thing about this is that I never once had any problems like those when I had my 05 wrx, and I had the SSQV on it for a couple months. Maybe I was just lucky or something.

Silverrex is right. those are the symptoms of a blow off valve. and dont thing that a little rich isnt all that bad, being rich can be just as detrimental to your engine as lean, it just takes a little longer. one of my pistons cracked from caked on carbon deposits which then caused me to burn oil, all of this from running a bov for about 50k miles.

the sound is not worth it.

Just keep the stocker unless you're running more boost, then get something like Perrin Recirc BPV. I had a BOV for a while and yes the sound was cool, but the stuttering and backfire was annoying as fuck. Just get an intake and a tune and the stock BPV will be much more noticable.
