I'd think some of the tire places offer it. Guess it makes sense too, you'd probably save a couple bucks every time you fill up your tank (if the guy in the story is accurate that he gets an extra mile per gal).
Not counting the fact that "air" is 78% nitrogen, and in terms of the periodic table, nitrogen is actually a "lighter" element than oxygen.
IMO, its like snake oil. Race teams use pure dry nitrogen in their tires not because it leaks slower, but because it yields a more predictable pressure increase as the tire heats up. Besides, heat buildup in the tire will actually increase pressure, which will reduce contact patch and therefore reduce rolling resistance.
(emphasis mine)
Right, break in your engine and it has absolutly no effect on mileage!

I am wondering what would happen if you made an underbody pan (run the whole length) and used a front skid plate and APR rear diffuser. That should lower the drag created by the car and help. It probably only works for speeds above 70mph, which would be ok for highway driving.
In the article, I think the biggest thing was that he was running 40psi in the tires.

I have been running nitrogen in my wifes accord about 8 months ago. Gas mileage was really no better, not noticable or anything. But they do hold pressure very well. We have never had to add air or nitrogen to them yet. It seems the only bit that has leaked out was when I tested them.
It cost $20 for all four.
