Boosting Question.

I took the car out for a quick drive and soem gas. I hadnt really drivin sporty in a while so I thought I would open her up a bit. Well I notice that I am only hitting .8 Mpa (OEM Boost Gauge) on the boost gauge in 4th/5th gear at WOT.

I know in the past its almost touched .1, And according to my math .8 Mpa is around 11 PSI, but I thought the stock WRX ran almost 14PSI.

All I have done is SPT Catback and K&N Panel Filter.

Ohh I also did an ECU reset a few mins. ago and the car seems to boost quicker but still wont pass .8 Mpa.

check for any leaks or loose clamps expecially the clamps that hold the intercooler down. make any changes to the car lately?

I re-installed the OEM boost Gauge.

I thought if it was leaking the preasure would bleed off.

Whats the best way to check for leaks?

if you have one of those homemade leake testers, that would be nice.

id suggest check all the clamps and hoses you worked with when you installed the gauge.

how does one make a home made leak tester

Google search did nothing for me.

I checked everything and it seems good.

not sure on the tester, but from i understand it can be fairly cheap.

did you check all other hoses and clamps under the hood? the main one that comes loose is the 2 clamps that hold the intercooler on with. also check the clamp on the y-pipe that connects to the turbo

im gonna check. Will I hear something (like air whistle) if its leaking?

you may, depending where the leak is from. its also it may not be leaking enough to hear it

well the 2 clamps on the IC were a little loose so I tightned all the way down. The Y pipe was really really tight. And my boost gauge cable seems dead on.

I will take her out in the morning and see if she is any better.
