My blingin gold intercooler!
While i was having my suspension setup, I decided to buy some gold eat reflective material. This is the same stuff used in aerospace, racing, and cars like the mclaren F1. Itg work better than anything else and is incredibly thin and self adheasive. It works so well that after my car running for 10 minutes i could touch my heatseild on the turbo. It can also be up to 1/8th inch close to the heat source. I put it on the inside of the heat sheild, the intercooler end tanks, and intercooler charge y pipe.
The main purpose for this is to reduce heat from the turbo on the intercooler. I intend to do some quantitative tests on the benifits as soon as possible. At enjuku, we took a peice of thin aluminum and put the foil on one side and heated that side to 270 degrees. The other side was at 100. I believe they sell it for $50/linear foot (which is about 2 feet tall) so its not cheap, but its fun stuff.
