I'm just picturing all the news stories I've read or heard about "new" drivers getting a WRX or STi and then totalling it by overdriving it (read: showing off), killing themselves or others.
As for this thread, there's no problem with learning to drive stick on an STi, or WRX. You just need to take it easy. In the case of the "let the clutch out slowly until the car is rolling", that's actually how I got the car home from the dealership, and drove it to work every morning, until I got the hang of the gas+clutch combo for stoplights. I just left lots of room between me and the car in front of me so I could have it rolling by the time they moved.
you may want to try learning a little with a friends car first. because:
a) they can help you out and tell you what you are doing wrong
b) you will be more careful and wont try to kill it (that me just be me)
c) it is likely that there car is not all wheel drive which means there is more give in the powertrain (fwd and rwd will spin tires before breaking the trans)
i learned a little on my brothers prelude and so since it was not my car i went easy on it and also he yelled at me everytime i screwed up. im not saying that im now a master at the stick but i can get it going and it gives u the idea of how to drive stick.
ill i can say is slaming the gears and burning the clutch gets you doublelly yelled at.

Im not totally clue less i been driving atvs and Bikes since i was 4 so i know HOW it works.. How the clutch grabs in all stalling stuff like that....I think i can drive a stick no problem i doubt id even stall
learning stick on an sti cant be that bad, i mean they are meant to handle it. i learned how to drive stick on my 02 wrx. just take you time and try not to dump the clutch. the only thing i had trouble was the gas was a little touchey, but that could also be because this was the first car i ever drove. just take your time. my friends have rented cars for the day that were stick and just learned on that. that might cost you no more than 100 dollars that could save you thousands on sti tranny parts.
all i gotta say is lil kids shouldn't play with subies go play with something of ur own ability...esp since u know nothing about cars...ex
120hp crx?) and also ur known as a scammer so please stop posting here

i just hope u dont wreck a nice STI from lack of experiance. I think you should really conssider gettin another car first, and not throwing away 25k on something u cant even drive
