You're just now learning that? My old car I had for 12 years and only got 4 dings on it. Three if you don't count the time while I was in the car at the beach and the wind yanked the other guy's door out of his hand.

Want to know why I only had one ding approximately every 3 - 4 years?

Some small tips:

1) Park out in the boonies. Free exercise and less chance of dings.

2) Park next to a curb so only one side of your vehicle is exposed to potential damage.

3) Park the passenger's side close to the curb, as close as you can get it. Besides allowing the other person's door to swing further out before contacting your's, from my casual study, errr observation, there are far less people exiting the right side of a vehicle then the left. Doesn't matter if it's two or four doors. So if you are parked on the right/passenger side of their vehicle you greatly lessen your damage exposure.

4) NEVER park next to ANY four door vehicle. Ever notice where most of the dings are on your car? Up high around the same height or about 6 inches lower than the door handles. Know why? That's where the most outward edge on the rear door, the part that clears the rear wheel well on the other car, hits. That sharp pointy edge is never going to contact your side mouldings that help prevent door dings. Never.

yea i hear ya on the advice. the most recent ding i got was by a 2 door car. i was backed in and the door hit the corner of my fender. Well, ive had 2 previous cars and had about 4 dings total over 3 years. I think people just hate that they cant own the cars that we have. I do follow your tips a good amount of the time. Right now, i want to go out and ding a few cars up and see how they feel. haha. its late, i should be goin to bed.
