STi stereo questions
im looking to upgrade my speaker system in the STi but i want to keep the stock headunit. got a couple questions.
what are the sizes of the 2 set speakers in the front doors and the 1 set of speakers in the back doors?
does the stock headunit heave RCA hookups in the back so i can hook up an amp?
thanks for any help.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Or two questions.
But in case you're blind:
1) Fronts are 6 1/2, rears are 4.0, or 5 1/4 (with sometimes necessary spacers).
2) No rca jacks
Ia Performance (among other places I'm sure) sell spacers for the rears.

yes you can hook up an amp but you have to get a little converter box, it gives you a set of rcas, its a bitch to hook up but it works good... go ask somebody at circuit city about it, tell em you want to run an amp on your stock head unit and you need the little box for it.

suby stuff is always so damn complicated. i should just buy a TV
If you MUST keep the stock HU, then yes you will have to get the converter box that HKSWRX was talking about. The downside to those are limited tuning, and not-so-great signal quality...

i helped a friend install one of these in a car and wow i was amazed ....
there converter box's are not really a pain in the ass you tap into 2 wires then a power i think, its been a while since i have done one these
I used the Forester DIN pocket in my WRX(you can pick it up from SubieGal(or whoever sells parts on NASIOC)). It is a great piece versus the black plastic thing that barely fits. Here is my thread with *pics* http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=904115
Most would say it looks almost stock. Since i've installed it, I've run all of my wires necessary for amp operation to where you can't even see them.
Let me know if you have any questions.
