Default Tire recommendations

Hey all,

Any recommendations for tires for the Sti in 225 40 18? I want very sticky street tires. Not concerned about anything but all out performance really. Which means I'll probably ignore anything above 200 treadwear.

Feel free to chime in with other makes/models I might have missed.

Considered:
Yokohama advan neova
Falken Azenis RT615
Bridgestone S03 pole position
Bridgestone S02
Goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3
Yokohama avs sport

NOT considered:
Bfg gforce t/a kd (too loud)
Kumho ecsta (too hard a compound)
Yokohama parada spec 2 (too hard a compound)
Yokoham avs es100 (too loud)
Yokoham fm901 (too loud)

I have the newest Kumho SPT's, don't seem to be to hard of a rubber in my opinion bu t I'm no pro driver. If your in Tampa your more than welcome to take a look at them as they are unmounted, sitting in my backseat lol. If you wanted squeeze the rubber or something. Matter of fact they are in that exact size as well. Going to replace my worn out Nitto 555's....

Wever,

Nice list, thanks! Totally forgot about the RT615! That was one of my original choices eons ago when I first started looking. Added that to the the first post. Also some good prices off that link. Ty.

The T1R's will be pricier, but what an awesome tire. The Kumho Ecsta MX is a STICKY tire. It has a slightly soft side-wall, but it's still quite grippy, plus you can get it in any size.

If you want all out, the RA-1's are untouchable. Then T1R's, then RT615's. The Bridgestone's are usually pricey...

Good stuff in this thread though.

Guy,

I am surprised to see that you do not have any Toyo's on your "Considered" list. They make great tires. Like Scott said, I forgot about the MX's. RA-1's with the torque you are putting out, you would have to buy new tires every 6 months!
