Default Which Is The Best Top Mount

I have heard that out of all the aftermarket top mounts that the sti top mount is still one of the best ones to get. What are your opinions on which top mount is best?

Generally bigger is better for a TMIC, but you also need to think about flow. You can have the baddest TMIC in the land, but it wont do shit if youre not getting air across it. If youre thinking about upgrading, consider a new hoodscoop and splitter to accompany it (like the 02-03 STi scoop). No sense in getting a bigger TMIC if youre not gonna take full advantage of it.

more than needing to flow, it needs to efficiently cool...

1000cfm is useless if the efficiency range is low....

on the street, the stock tmic is very efficient and flows very well, too......

i had the es-x one, too, and even with tuning it made less than 5whp difference (if that)...

looked great, fit like crap, and caused all kinds of parts to need to be bent, adjusted, dented and cut....

only way i'd go aftermarket hotbox again is with one that is less than 4" thick, and still allows for the splitter skirt...

2 things to look for: cooling efficiency and pressure drop across the IC.

the bes top mount is the one i had with your mom last night....lol j/k . But seriously bigger isnt always better. SOme of the best top mounts arent that large. It also depends on how much you really want to spend. HKS makes a jdm one that from what i hear is incredible, but its $1400. THe helix one is supposed to be tight but its relatively new so i dont know much about it.

and..........

the PSI pressure observed when said pressure drop was measured

(sometimes a missing component in the equation, which totally negates the ability to judge the true efficiency of the unit)

im looking into the AVO, MRT (1300?? it beter be good), and a few others....
