Well, around 10k miles the boxer motors (be they 2L or 2.5L) actually get a helluva lot better. Maybe that's what they meant? Blow your socks off?

the only thing I've heard that's close to this is modded wrx's blowing their transmissions. I know of 3 people who've gotten their wrx's up to around 300hp and within a few thousand miles of that have had to replace (2 of them) or rebuild (the other 1) their trannys. THAT statistic was the one thing that motivated me to spend the extra cash for a STi.

Yeah I think hes talking about blowing transmissions, thats ENTIRELY possible, cept not on an sti, only on a wrx
