Default beginner suby questions

2 questions for you guys. One if you had it to do all over would you stay with a sti or evolution? Or would the WRX guys rather have EVO or STI? Why?

what are sone good sites for me to do some research on? pics?

I was a VW guy and I drove an evo home one night and fell in love simply for the power and the AWD. But seeing as I am a father of 2 and this will be a daily driver the SUby seems like a nicer car and similar power. The Suby scene seems to be like VW scene too.

thanks.

Well I've only owned my WRX for a month or so but I did test drive quite a few vehicles before I bought including an evo. Being a Dad as well man I found both the STi and WRX 10x more comfortable for everyday situations compared to the EVO. The interior feels/looks alot better with a more quality feel to it than the EVO. The Evo is a sweet car but just wasn't suitable/comfortable to me for everyday duties.

I bought a WRX so I can't offer any insight into the power comparison of the EVO vs. STi but I'll say that w/ AWD, side impact airbags and four doors the WRX has been great to haul my boy around while still being able to get down when needed. I have no regrets whatsoever.

Those should get you started and satisfy the research bug...

What 2kZX2 said^

General consensus is that the STi is more refined for daily use - more compliant suspension, better interior feel/quality, etc. Downside is the EVO handles a little better and feels more raw - more tossable.

I used to own an STi, and my father owns a WRX. Subaru all the way!

If you are not going for max power and speed, Subaru. Nicer inside and out, more refined. Stock it is faster than the evo, I'm talking out of the dealer nothing done to them, in a straight line. The quality of Subaru is 2000% better than Mitsubishi. Interior and exterior. The car will last longer than the Mitsu, it will also retain it's value better.

Now If you are going for speed. The Mitsu 4g63 is a beast, responds well to mods and can make more power than the STi with a stock turbo and minor mods, less money. Easier to work engine bay.

I have a WRX right now, with 300whp, I enjoy it a lot, I have not driven an STi or EVO yet, but if I had to chose absolute power, I would chose the EVO. If I only wanted something fast but refined as a daily driver, the STi. To me is all about want you want from it.

I will probably sell the WRX soon, but I think I'm going to try the G35 next, I like the power it has and the looks.

Well I went to Mastro and drove an STI just now and it was very nice as far as I'm concerned. The only things I didn't care for was mainly the rear seat looks like crap, very cheaply done IMO. I come from VW so I'm used to nice interior. It was nicer than the EVo 8 I drove and I thought that the stock suspension was pretty nice as well.
I dont want the fastest car in the world. I want a well balanced one to get into autocross and then to get into road racing further down the line.
I have been told that STIs will lead more towards understeering and I was wondering how and what you guys use to correct that.

Thank for your help.
still havnt made up my mind but the subie is looking better and better to me.

Yeah I drove an 06 crystal gray, the steel gray was next to it on the right and a white on the left and I'm not for the crystal but the white and the steel I love.
What suspension do you have? I'm in Dunedin if there is anyone in the area or a place Suby guys meet up I'd love to go for some rides.
Oh yeah the shifter was amazing, the best I have ever felt.
Oh god that back seat though.
