broke rex need help!
my 2002 wrx with 60k miles is not running right and i have no idea what the hell is wrong with it and i need anyones opinion to help me. whats wrong is, if i try to go past 5500 rpms and above the car makes a crazy noice and bogs down. it only happens if there is boost. if i am idle and rev it past 5500rpms it does nothing its fine. one other thing is when i was in the interstate i was doing like 4k rpms and i punched it to past someone and the boost gauge was reading 15psi like normal but then it would the boost was go up and down between 15-10. and it would only do it if i made it go to 15psi. the only thing i know what is wrong is cylinder 4 is misfireing so i have new plug to fix it. i know it nothing to with the internal because it would make a noice all the time and it only in boost when it does it and above 5500rpms. someone help!!!!!

Any CEL codes? What are your modifications?
Bad EGT can cause that. Bad tuning over boosting can cause that. ECU running on limp mode can cause that.
But if you have a CEL check it out. and post your mods

Weird. All I can think of is check your plug and coil pack.
You can get that CEL from detonation also, maybe with the colder weather you need a retune. I think the COBB system will compensate for that, but I'm throwin ideas around

Accessport uses the stock ECU fuctions, and as such, can adjust to various air temperatures.
Sounds to me like its hitting some sort of fuel cut. I wouldn't expect the misfire to do it, but its possible that when the ECU goes open loop it puts just enough fuel in to make the plug misfire. Or it could be a combination of the boost levels and the plug that's making the ECU think its knocking hardcore.
My suggestion: Put in the new spark plug, and reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery, not through the Accessport, and see if that helps (Resetting through accessport just resets CELs, not ECU learning)

plugs are easy. not as easy as an inline 4 but still easy. just remove whatever's in the way and it'll be alright. you'll need a 3" extension for sure. b/c there isn't much space.
