Default Found a transmission, Opinions Please

Anybody know about the "gimmie" gearset?

The tranny I found has that gearset, with >1000 miles on the new gearset, brand new synchros, bearings, seals, the whole nine.

*edit* - its the street gearset (not drag)

I don't know, the guy told me its eleventy billion times stronger, its got less teeth, and is hardened. It has the same gear ratio as the wrx gearset, so I won't have any differences in shifting. The guy put it in his car, and blew the motor, now hes going with a 800hp motor, and needs a 6speed, this is why hes selling it.

I found some pictures comparing them to the stock gearset here

These gearsets used to be pretty pricey too, I think on the order of $3k+. If its a good deal, go for it. They're not straight cut so you don't have to worry about gear whine either. I've seen some good comments about them before, don't even recall every hearing somebody complain (except about the price )

Yeah dude, this guy paid 2800 bucks for it, he owns a transmission shop so I know it was done right. It has brand new synchros and blocking rings, so its
gonna do me good. He swears up and down, with my power goals I will "NOT BREAK THIS TRANSMISSION"

Plus hes giving me an act clutch to boot.

John, please bear this in mind: No transmission is bulletproof.

I'm not implying you'll break it right away, or at all. I'm just saying that things can happen with abuse (again, not implying anything... I've seen people shift much worse than you ). I've heard nothing but good things about the Gimmiegears (I also found out they're made by the same people who do the MRT gears). At least this time the trans has a fighting chance. Enjoy it!
