Default Local Suby Autocrosses?

Hello everyone. I am fairly new to the Suby community, but have lived in Tampa my whole life. I'd like to start doing some autocrosses and was wondering if any of you are into that as well. I know that the Subaru Challenge is coming up and I think I'll go to that. I also found the Sunridersautcross.com site and that seems like a fairly laid back place to go run my car. I have never autocrossed anything before, but do have limited experience racing karts. Do any of you run the Sunriders events? Is it possible to go to the SPC lot and just "practice" at night, or in the daytime on weekends? I'd really like to learn the limits of my car (STi) in a safe environment, but have had a hard time finding a nice open parking lot/ skidpad to mess around in (see my post in the Autocross forum). I look forward to meeting some of you guys and its nice to see some IWSTI.com members on here. Thanks for the help, and let me know if any of you plan on doing the Oct. 15 Sunriders event.

There is also an SCCA event on Oct. 22 & 23 at Brooksville airport.

I'd love to try out AutoX as well. I've always wanted to, never have. I was thinking about if nothing else atleast going up to the Subby challenge to watch. I may go out to the Sunriders event to watch as well, just to get a feel for it.

They are a lot of fun to watch. There are a lot of great drivers that make it look so easy. Believe me it is not. You will get better though with time. I used to race my Honda a few years back (back in the single days). The great thing about the SCCA events, you can do ride alongs with some people and get a great feel for what is going on. There also always instructors on hand to ride with you and give you pointers.
