what do you guys think about the 06 Wrx?
I have heard rumors that the new Wrx can run a 13.4 stock. Nasioc thread here From what I know Subaru might have severly underrated the hp and torque for insurance reasons. For example according to Cobb a 04-05 Wrx will put down on a mustang dyno 170hp@5750rpm and 174tq@3750rpm compare this to a forester xt 2.4 192hp@5200rpm and 219@4000rpm.. That over 22hp and 45 tq.
Also several people have driven the new 06's and compared them to cobb stage 2's and think they are very similar.
more features
2.5l engine
-from 227 hp to 230 hp
-from 217 ft-lb to 235 ft-lb
-increased compression
-redesign combustion chambers
-redesign intake manifold
-deleted pre-catalyst (replaced in function by a secondary air pump) not sure what this means. can someone explain
-Also a Low Emission Vehicle II (LEV II) regulations
So what do you guys think? I think Subaru either highly detuned the engines or they are good for a high 13 sec stock.

all wrx-based powerpolants are seriously under-tuned. they are problably underated too, but there are certain gentlemen's agreements with manufacturers in jpn to keep HP to a certain limit (or top speed at least)..
i believe the new iteration of the wrx is the best offering yet. having more tq. is only adding to the funfactor for street driving. also, there's alot of potential lying locked in these plants still.... (ecutek tuning and a d/p can yield 70whp on the ej257 alone, NTM other tricks and parts)
some argue the looks, but to me the looks are inline with the car's behavior and performance.... (the only minor issue is the tailamps , IMO, - they arent really beter to me... not bad or obscene, but just 'different'

well the engine is a forester XT engine.
lots of those in the 350WHP+ range on stock inturnals.
i know the GP Moto forester is a beast. runs 10`s and it is like 420+whp i think.

I think there is no point in getting an STI for HP#'s anymore since the WRX is capable of the same #'s ....A new BPU WRX maybe even quicker do to gearing.
