Default Gutting a uppipe, downpipe???

I am thinking about gutting my uppipe and downpipe on my 2003 WRX. I am seeing if anybody else done this? I was seeing how loud it is and is there any problems after removing the cats like engine light or not runing good. I am thinking about doing this weekend. Thanks for your input

Never tried this on a Subaru but the few cars I have it's resulted in quite a nasty (not good) exhaust note. As far as engine lights are concerned, seeing as you'd no longer have any catalyst material left, an MIL is a sure bet.

My father's WRX has a gutted uppipe and catless downpipe (stock cat-back). It sounds pretty nice. You can hear the turbo and BPV a lot more.

Check-engine light is a sure thing. There are various fixes. You can make your own for $3, buy the 'mechanical' fix for $30, or the pre-made electronic fix for $50 (iirc).

Search around on scoobymods.com

I have a catless uppipe, downpipe and catback. Whereabouts in Btown are you located?

have you ever taken your up-pipe out before? it is a huge chore if you havent. i would be more than happy to help.

you will most deffinatly get a CEL. but the .99 cel fix will work until you can get something better....

I have never taken out the uppipe or the downpipe before. The downpipe looks easy to do. I would like your input about takeing them out, that would be great (brewpubeaver or anybody). I know that when I take it out I will have to take alot of time to remove the cats. The downpipe I am thinking about cutting it right in half then weld it back to gether.

Where can I get a CEL fix?? Auto zone

I live in bradenton on the west side.

donw pipe is really easy... simple you can see all the bolts.

the upipe... well you have to remove the turbo. and you will need a special tool to get the sensor out of the bung of the up-pipe. or you can do what i did... blow torch it. (would not recomend it) lol... i am free on sunday if anybody would like to get together and we could do another install day.
