Default Question:

Hi guys. Normally post on mitsu tech but my friend has a Subaru Forester and just came into contact with many stock wrx parts (compiling list right now, will edit later), and he was interested in turboing his grocerey getter.

How hard/safe is this? What do you suggest? List of parts required?

Thanks in advance for your help.

What year Forester? Unless he is getting the parts really cheap, I'd suggest buying a Forester XT since they are already turbo'd.

Be carefull when slapping turbo on an EJ25 N/A. The reason I didn't put a turbo on my RS is because of the compression ratio, 10:0.1. Also the heads on that motor are not very strong. But if you do want to turbo the Forester I would get the Apex-i AVC-R boost controller and run no more than 6 Psi. With the compression that you have, at 6 psi. you will be at around 310 crank Hp. and about 260 Whp. I would Suggest beefing up the transmission with a STi RA gear set ( about $1,500 but worth it ). Let me find my old list of the Ej25 turbo setup. How much money do you have to spend on the biuld up?

Well, i'm paying for this myself so the ideal price range would be around $500... Ryan you said it was going to cost you $380 with all of the parts that i have... and the same engine... Brendan said i would need some sort of fuel management.

A Fuel management would be a good choice. It might not be necessary with only 5 Psi. but would be good none the less. I think the Apex-i S-AFC might do the job, they go for about $350. CUE is open on Tuesday, I'll be there after 3:00. Give me a call after you get out of school and you can follow me up there.I'll PM you my #. That way Craig can go over the car and give a proper estimate.

fule mnagement is a must. when you take a N/A and put forced induction on it. your fuel requirements are drastically changed.

what parts are you getting for free, it takes more than a turbo and up-pipe. also you will have to modifie the cross member a bunch. this = BIG hammed and a grinder.... lol.

it is hard to say what you need when you havent listed what you have.
