Default intake suggestions

Well I have decided that I am going to buy an intake, but I am unsure of which one to get. I originally planned on getting the Blitz SUS and a Zerosports intake pipe, but that comes out to costing a lot more than all of the other options. I have read many times that oiled filters, such as a K&N, would eventually dmamage a turbo car, but I still see numerous people using them.

So my question is, what intake would you suggest using, and if you already have one, what are your experiences with it. Thanks in advance.

Well with a CAI it really will not help the car at all.... and in some cases it can hurt the performance of the car. Without an ECu management this is always the case. With that said I have an AEM Blue CAI for sale. PM if you are interested.

I was talking more about a short ram intake. The only CAI I am considering is the APS.

I was advised not to get this only for that fact that it rains here a lot and water could get into it. Have you encountered any problems like this?

Thats why you get an air bypass valve, it fits on your CAI, The valve shuts down if there is a drop in pressure due to a filter becoming submerged. It then filters air through its external opening, keeping water out of your engine.

you can find AEM ones on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634

I've never heard a good argument as to why CAI is better than a short ram on a turbocharged car. If anyone can show me one i'd be very interested. As far as 'any' intake being put on the wrx, i've heard that gains will only be seen after EM and without it you will in many cases cause a lean condition. I've seen many tuning facilities (mastro included) tell customers to sell their aftermarket intakes and go back to simply running a filter on the stock airbox. Supposedly they are a pain in the ass to tune for then as well with our MAF sensors. I think in most cases the stock airbox will do a great job on the td04h and most ihi turbos, so if your in this boat, i recommend looking for another mod (exhaust mani, pulley kit, ic hoses, save up for EM)
