Default Perrin CAI

Anybody heard any feedback or had any experiance with the Perrin CAI? When i was looking at it earlier i was puzzled with the foam-type filter and was wondering if it would restrict air, or not filter enough. Thanks

P.S. i dont want any, spend your money on somthing else posts. Keep it to yourself.

I'm just curious why you are interested in a CAI and not a short-ram. If you ever decide to go with an FMIC in many cases it won't fit plus i haven't heard any real proof that a CAI is better than a shorty on a turbocharged vehicle.

i went w/ a CAI to help avoid induction of hotter - than - atmos. air temps, and to be used with my FMIC. you can also achieve an intake that will be more resistant to heatsoak, as well as more easily be able to return to a lower amb. temp after having sat (and heated) for some time.

perrin makes great products; i imagine their intakes are as well, but havent tried them

2 things to consider:

1) location of intake filter/pod (for future mods, potential water ingestion)
2) size of MAF tube (dia) (this NEEDS to be very close to oem diameter, as it can greatly cause idle/running problems, even with tuning. the stock maf expects a certain amount of intake airflow, which greatly depends on the size of the tube/tunnel in which it travels.) make sure to find out what size MAF it is going to be (early aps's were 70mm which caused an immediate need for a retune to get them to work correctly; new gen aps's are now 65mm and can be used as PNP)

injen (another decent company , i believe) makes a CAI that reloactes the filterpod into the fenderwell also, and they claim their intake will net 30whp. it isnt clear as to how that is achieved, but i would actually be worried if a simple intake DOES yield that much power (must be a super-lean-out)

on an aside, does anyone know where to get a k&n filtercharger kit?

ese
