Yeah, i'm guessing they must have been referring to the jdm EJ20G than. Thanks for the input everyone. 350 to the ground seems like the way to go then for reliability purposes.

IMO, 350 to the wheels on a stock EJ20 block will not be long-term reliable. Go ask around at NASIOC.com to see who has been *firsthand* running that on the stock EJ20 for more than 12 months...

The key word was AVERAGE. GREEN sorry but your car is not average. My motor blew with only exhaust .....the rest stock so.......I say that type of power on the stock block will not last long.

shitballs, i'll just have to do that than. What is your opinion on a reliable power output kickslop? An open deck stock block 1.8L honda gsr motor can put down 300whp (~350 crank) reliably with good parts and tuning, i would have to assume that a semi closed deck stock block 2.0L subaru ej motor can put down more than the same 200 per liter. (400 crank = ~300awhp) No? Is the extra stress on the motor due to the larger amounts of torque the reason for this? Please excuse my amatuer knowledge on the subject.

You know... there are so many variables in this question, I always wince when it gets asked. It's like trying to nail jello to the wall.

The only consensus I am left with after 3 years is that roughly 280WHP and below is safe and long-term reliable on the stock EJ20. There just have been far too many people with problems at 300+ for me to say otherwise. Perhaps it's tuning. Perhaps the people push the car to redline at every 1000ft of open road every single day and it just wears it out fast. I really don't know anything other than the stock pistons (ring lands) are the 1st roadblock to power.

"Long term reliability" often means "It didn't break when we hit that number on the dyno and I drove it out, so it's fine at that power level" to a LOT of people, oddly enough.
