Default 04' STi Questions

Hey all...

Come June I will be buying a new car. I was considering a 3 series BMW but after looking at base prices I figured why not get the car you have wanted for a long time.

So here goes it, I dont know that much about teh STi and after hitting up some of the Subaru boards I still have some questions...

First off, What do you STI owners pay a month (if you dont mind answering) for car payments and insurance payments. I have a budget of around 425.00 for car and 300 for Insurance. I know My insurance company quoted me 188 a month for 03' WRX but said they wearnt sure about the STi.

Second, How confortable/reliable is the STi. I only ask because I worked witha guy that had an S2000 and he said it was a crappy daily driver due to teh fact that stop and go traffic and slow driving was tough. SO would an Sti be an ok daily driver or will I find 5:00pm traffic un-nearving?

Third, Overall is it worth the inflated price tag. I mean I think the WRX is a fine enough car and has all the options I want, but I figured if its in my budget why not get the Sti.

Thank you very much

- Mike

As you can read, I don't have a WRX or STi. However, I know that you can mod out a WRX to perform to similar stregths that the STi does. It is all up to you. I would also like to know about the daily driving because I am planning on selling both my cars to get a WRX.

I dont have an STI but my wrx is a great daily driver car, comfy on the road and a smooth ride. The only problem i could see in traffic would be that a 6 speed isn't always fun in traffic and the the urge to go fast again.

Ive heard a few things about the STi clutches, they arent the greatest reviews, but i dont own one, ill let the owners chime in.. My wrx however, is the best daily ive ever owned, 3 years, no major problems to speak of, and its been DAMN reliable.. i never had a complaint in traffic, but i hate it period... in comparison however, my supra sucks in traffic, heavy duty clutches dont help the matter all in all, the wrx has been the best car ive owned reliabilty and durability, and its the most daily driveable option in my eyes... besides, the evo will keep someone breathing down your neck about mods... i would say do it, a whole lot of car for good money

I dont think you will see any drastic changes in ins from 04 to 05. unless its a engine change or some kind of drastic price change. its peanuts, and if you plan to finance the car you will get a better percentage rate on the loan with a 05. Banks would rather see a bran new car rather than a 04 left over and save 4gs. just a thought.

However I seriously Warn you not to buy a Used STi's unless you are 100% positive of the cars history. 9 times out of 10 if you find a deal to good to be ture it is. if you need to get a 04 for whatever reason get a left over. there are plenty sitting on dealer lots just waiting to be driven home.

SO far the two I have looked at have been dealer demo cars. That had only 3.000 Miles on them.
