Reg. WRXs they suggest no more than 4k for the first 1000 miles and varied speed. I assume the STi would be similar to that. Just check in your owners manual, it says what Subaru recommends.

The manual recommends 4k limit for the first 1,000 miles without sustained RPMs(hiway driving). It really doesn't matter as much as people make it out to be IMHO. I would take it easy for the first 250-500 miles and progressivly from there until you hit 750-1,000 miles.

The stock boost on the STi is about the same as the 2.0L WRX, right around 14-15psi peak. There is zero advantage running any more boost on an otherwise stock setup. That aside given appropriate fueling and engine managment and other supporting bits there is no reason why the engine counldn't handle much higher boost levels.
