i dunno.. someome might correct me.. but i've yet to see a decent intake for the WRX unless its a power pod/velocity stack .. the up-pipe is what will help spool the turbo.. as the gas that spools it exits the up-pipe and enters the turbo.. a free-er flowing up-pipe = more gas to spool the turbo..
the intake could potentially give you more or denser air entering the engine..it also could mess with the ECU enough to make the car perform worse.. be too lean.. etc etc..
i think the guy at subaru is trying to sell you stuff..

ok, i need help. lol
i put the bov on today and there is the one vac line that goes to the bov and there is the one pipe that i think goes back to the turbo. do i have to have the pipe hooked up cause i have seen people who do and some that dont. does it matter?
other then this question it all turned out good.

what brand of BOV is it ?
the pipe vents the BOV back into the intake (if its what I am thinking of) and generally its better to do that.. you wont get as much of a cool sound.. but your car wont "misscalculate" the amount of air entering the engine and add more fuel than is needed (you wont run rich between shifts etc etc.. or when the throttle is closed and you are venting)
