Default project sti get spray painted flat black

for all you subie lovers, you may want to check this month's issue of sport compact car. they take project sti and paint it flat black. it was a perfectly good looking blue color, and they sand it down and paint it w/ flat black krylon!!!! it looks kinda cool...but it is really messed up to do that. they add some minor mods (hks coilovers, short shifter, and sparcos), but for the most part they destroy a perfectly good looking sti. :o i guess the hks coilovers is supposed to make the sti handle on the level of the evo. hhhmmmmmm....

yeah...they are much happier w/ the hks coilovers. better ride quality and performance. "no bobbing heads doll impression any more"

praxxis = .98g & 71.4mph slalom
hks = .97g & 72.2 mph slalom (on the same tires from before that are now worn)

they still prefer the evo for handling (you know i had to point that out), but they said the STI is getting closer

Damn, they went flat black over WR Blue?

I love the flat black on project Silvia, but getting rid of the WR Blue should be a criminal offense.

At least it will be easy to touch up any scratches. No more going to dealership for matched touch up paint... just go to Home Depot and buy some spray paint. Then you can go tag your name on train cars with the left-over.

Makes sense, I never liked the praxxis suspension with project sti anyways. Too many problems and it didn't give the numbers it should have.

flat black is stupid. but the other stuff they've done isnt bad. i never liked their 240, mainly because they made shitty power with a shitty turbo (disco potato hahahaha) and they pretty much caused the bandwagon to overload with their $3,000 buildup (yeah right)...sorry for off topic.

those HKS coilovers are the hot stuff, if they are anything like HKS dampers for nissans, they are probably ~2 grand correct?

definately don't agree with the cosmetic mods(minus the prodrive wheels), though I have to say I thought it would look shittier with a krylon paint job.

Well with as much paint as Subaru puts on vehicles, I'll bet it only took them 10 minutes to sand it all off.

Maybe it's just me, but I have insane hood rash with 43k miles and normal driving.
