Default thinking about an STi

well, the pig is getting too hard/expensive to maintain, so i was thinking about getting an STi. i went by mastro and checked out an '05 sti. i liked it alot. it was very comfortable and looked sweet all nice and clean the way dealerships make em look so i was wondering what do you guys think of them? is there a HUGE difference between them and the regular wrx? i wanna build it for drag purposes (i saw the other guys thread about how to build one) the salesman said it goes 0-60 in 4.7 seconds, i was under the impression that they did that in 5.4 but i guess the dealer would know better than me also the sticker price was 32k i believe. would it be better just to get an 04 because he said the only big difference between the 04 and 05 was they added lsd to the front wheels and not just the back. and also what are some good stradegies to talk down the price thanks!

Nothing for WRX/STi's is cheap. They weren't really made to be drag cars either. I agree with Billy.....if you want an all out drag car, better pick something else.

Yes! Take a look at http://www.esxmotorsports.com/esx.htm any you'll get a better idea of how rediculous it can get.

If you're really going to build up a drag car I would suggest the STi just for the 6MT alone. The transmission in the STi alone is almost worth the price premium on the STi. The .5 additional displacement is nice to start with but nothing else much on the STi is going to be helpful over the WRX if you're building it up for a seriously fast drag vehicle.

I still would agree with everyone else that the Impreza isn't the best drag vehicle choice.
