2.5 RS intakes
PDM, Ganzflow, & Cobb all make pretty good cold-air intakes.
i have a PDM & it cost all of $50, it's just an aluminum tube going from the fender to the factory airbox (Ganzflow is the same but costs more money) the Cobb goes from the fender to the throttle body, costs around $250 & has an inline airfilter & is supposed to work/sound really good.

I just did a search and apparently Injen makes a CAI for the 98-99 RS now. Must be pretty new.

ya the injen is the best intake for MAF, 2.5 RS's. Though you can buy a MAF adapter and adapt the cobb intake to it. Also, supposively, cobb is making a CAI for the MAf impreza. Might wanna check with them about that since the cobb intake is the best intake for the 2.5RS IMO. Glad to see you are doing more mods to your RS Frances.
