1.7 seconds is actually a pretty far spread in Willow Springs.

I can't figure out for the life of me why would you say the more purpose built STi? The SVT is what?

Formula One teams would spend $50M for that "tick". This article makes me want to do a STi conversion on my car so bad it hurts. I'd be happy with the short block and trans. The rest is just icing.

And 1.7s a lap equates to nearly 10 seconds after five laps. That's an ass raping in a race. Any idiot can go fast in a straight line. :o

"hello four star motors, yea how much is your spec c car-less shells again......."

good article I like how they tested it at a road coarse where a RWD would have a nice shot not just a small tight course but one with enough flowing turns and elevation changes that it would make for a good race, I think the big thing isn't the times but how comparable the cars were, and both have allot of potential from the after market, Im waiting to see what those crazy japanese do with "OUR" 2.5l block

And these people talking about doing a 2.5 swap, how much does that cost again ? Now spend that same amount of money on the Cobra and go 10's or have it handle like a trans am car.
My car does alright in a straight line, nothing that's going to blow anyone's socks off, but better than some would expect. And the 2.5L short block is actually pretty cheap. If you go with the long block+STi ECU it can get a little pricey, but I really don't see the need for most applications.

This argument gets so old, it's not even really fun anymore. -ude rules...or something.
