Could it be a malfunctioning sensor? You should hear or feel something if the car is really misfiring. I'm not sure exactly which sensor would ultimately do the honors, but it might be something to look into. Where are our experts when we need them?

when my car was MUCH newer, i had a CEL from a cyl 2 misfire.. i didnt feel anything, yet, the suby dealer in Illinois did something... ill try to find the damn service record
