you can feel a gain in higher rpms...nothing major but a gain, but you will also feel a loss of low end torque
i recommend running something off of it and not just open i had a dump pipe made a long time ago for $25 mine bolts up to the dp and curves off at a 90 degree angle it keeps all the crap off the bottom of your car and helps a tad with back pressure
but it definately sounds evil

I'm just waiting to finally get around to buying a 3" electronic cut out to put on. I figure I can weld it in where I cut the cat out of my MRT down pipe. There are gains to be had, but I wouldn't want to have to drive the car like that everyday with no option to quiet it down....plus if I do that I can hang the stock muffler and be completely stock

been driving open downpipe for about 2-3 months now. its nice when you get a really good backfire and you feel it in your ass, lol. its not that bad, except when i drive somewhere like orlando/miami, the interstate resonating sound gets a little annoying, around town it doesnt bother me, and ive had no problems with the coppers (knock on wood), they see that stock muffler hanging in the back and dont know what to say
