Thumbs up Vishnu dyno'd stock Forest 2.5XT

Here is a copy and paste of what was said:

"Just thought I'd share the news. It made 175 wheel hp on our Dyno Dynamics Dyno, or about 10-15 more whp than the regular WRX. Peak hp was generated by approx 5000, which is really early. IIRC, peak torque as around 180ft-lbs as well. Needless to say, the claimed power rating is understated. Assuming that SOA is honest with the WRX rating, the Forester Turbo is making at least 240bhp.

Cheers,
shiv"

It's been kind of a known fact for a while now that the XT packs more punch than the stock WRX, however it's alway's been very hush, hush with Subaru and several published reports stated that Subaru requested that the Forester be de-tuned "so as to not upset the WRX crowd".

I'm anxiously awaiting the end of my lease to get my hands on an XT. I've had some fun in the wagon but I want the lowend grunt that the 2.5 gives.

Now lets see what Vishnu can do with some basic mods and I'll officially be sold!

Cool deal, but WTF is a Merc owner doing on NASIOC? That being said, Foresters are going to end up straight line slugs, because it's roll center has suck. Even lowered, it's too tall to handle with a WRX. All that being said, my plans for displacement enhancement are looking more and more necessary as time goes by.

I'vegot love for all cars, especially Subaru!

I almost talked my mother into getting a 2.5XT. She test drove it and everything, but at the end, she got an ML350. Oh well, After I graduate from school, I want the Legacy Turbo which should be out by then, if its less than $30k

Less than $30k??? Might have to rethink your target price point, but it shouldn't be much more than $30k. No STi, eh???

The turbo Legacy won't be 30K, it'll start around 27-28K and be called the Legacy GT (2.5L-Turbo, 250HP, 0-60 5.7 sec) it will be availible with one of 3 tranny's; 5-speed manual, 5-speed auto, 5-speed auto w/sportshift paddles on the steering wheels. Expect it in showrooms in late summer to fall of '04 as a 2005 model.

May to June of '04 we should see the new 2005 body style, but it will initially only be availible in the L & Outback styles with either a revised 2.5L-N/A motor rated at 170HP or a 3.0L-H6 motor rated at 230HP

BTW, the new Legacy weighs less than the current WRX by about 40 lbs! Now if you really want a kicker, wait until Fall of '05 when the rumored Legacy STi hits our shores as a 2006 model. Rumored 2.5L Twin-turbo 350HP screamer!

This is what I'm hearing from my "source" anyhoo!

Grazie Opie. I was thinking of the Legacy STi (S204?). I hope that 350hp number is conservative, since the car's going to be heavier than the STi. All that typing and I would still MUCH rather have a STi or better yet, a Spec C conversion :o!! The Forester or Legacy would be cool if I were one of you old, married guys, but I'm not dead yet.

Haha, Hey I represent that! I'm 97% sure that the Legacy turbo will be the next car in my driveway...

...right next to my RS & the wifey's '03 Legacy!
