PE1820 is a bolt on turbo.. ball bearing.. all the goodies.. $1100 is not a bad price for those.
The 20g should have many kits to allow for fitment on a DSM. I think Sam (99Venom) already has a kit he fabbed on his own to mount this monster on his WRX.
Sam, how much power did you end up getting with the 1820? This is marketed as a 400+hp turbo on the 2L, with proper fueling. I'm guessing you did not get those numbers, hence the bigger snail?

If they were standard sleeve bearing, they might never spool on a 2L!
I sold an 1818 to a customer in California and something is dreadfully wrong, as he only got 260whp from the car with a totally catless, top of the line everything, fuel pump, rails, bigger injectors, etc setup. :o I'm mystified. Waiting on a transmit of all data to see what the Hell went wrong. The 1818 is a more streetable turbo, but should still be good for 400hp. I'm stumped, which is why I curious to see what 99Venom was pulling on the 1820. These are about the baddest plug-n-play turbos you can get for our cars, but lose out to the really big Garrett and Mitsubishi turbos by a long way.

unfortunately the PE on my car only put 320 to the wheels, which i found unacceptable, i think that most of the direct bolt on turbos are gonna limit you to around 320-350 IMO. I tuned the car w/ the UTEC on the dyno for countless hours and thats what I came up with. And the 320 was at what I thought was the max the motor could handle boost wise. You can certainly flow lots more air at lower boost levels w/ a ratty old T3/T4, but I wouldnt know anything about that.....lol

Not to keep bugging you, but what injectors were you using? Would happen to have duty cycle information? Any EGT or AF data?
The customer in question is running forged internals, so heavier boost shouldn't be a problem, but I'm still stupified. I think he might be running STi injectors though...if that's the case, and I advised against the 550cc/tried to sell him 800cc, I think I'll have my answer.
IHI built turbos are limited due to their compact size. They're essentially OEM pieces (PEs not included, of course), so it's tough to expect too much. I used a 34 on my car because I was gunning for ~300whp, daily driveable on STi injectors. I also wanted to minimize boost lag, considering I was adding a FMIC...but I digress.

im using 650's and the duty cycle is relatively low, i can also tell you that the car made 258 on the first reasonable pull and to get the car to 320 was a LONG drawn out process. truthfully w/ the new turbo system we've built the car only made 250 out of the box, but what tremendous room for improvement there is now. im confident that getting the car to the levels i want will be pretty easy now that the flow is there. and on the subject of the 550's in your customers car, they would have to be close to being maxxed IMO. and for those who are interested in making there own PE copy get yourself an IHI 34 and mill the housing for a 6.5L diesel wheel and viola instant 1820...blah blah blah, i talk too much...
