It's Time To Put Up Or Shut Up!!!!!!!!
Nope. Sorry, pal. You have to be lying. Or you own a Maaco. Or you work at a Maaco. Or something like that. No Maaco paint job last six months, forget about a year.
It all depends on which one you goto. I was a painter for the one in Ocala and as stated before, I was pretty impressed. Its true that they don't take anything off the car but as far as painting stickers and whatnot, I have never seen that. They sanded the car with 400-500 on a DA. Didn't even think they would go that far. Once it was in the booth, EVERY car was wiped with wax/grease remover and then wiped with a tack cloth. After that sealer/base/clear was applied unless you got the special which was a urethane. Everything was either Nason or DuPont Chromabase. Im not saying that they are the beat but I have see some REALLY poor quality paintjobs roll out of other local shops and the people paid $2000+. If you prep it yourself and remove everything, I see no problem getting you car painted at Maaco. They are all different and owned by different people so I am only speaking for the one I worked at.

ITs not the paint or the place if you got a good painter that knows how to prep a car the right way and knows his products you will get a heck of a paint job.....,.....again is not the paint and place its......who paints the cars!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's happening here???
Two guys in a row saying it's possible to get a decent job out of a Maaco, and one of them is a FORMER Maaco employee who would have nothing to fear if he trashed them!??!?!?
Nah, these guys must be lying. I don't know why they would, but they have to be lying. We all know there has never been a good paint job that rolled out of a Maaco, right?

I don't understand why this thread is still going. How old are you OP? If you're satisfied with the $800 paintjob, why waste everyone's time arguing with and/or provoking the people that disagree with the paintjob's quality? You're not going to change anyone's opinions about Maaco.

And to answer your other question, I guess I was expecting too much when I hoped a few of these auto painters might say, "You're right. Maybe not ALL Maacos suck."
I was also waiting to hear from others who said, "Yes, I've seen good paint jobs by a Maaco shop on occcasion." One out of two ain't bad, I guess.
As I said before, I really, really despise gross generalizations. Stuff like Irish guys drink too much, black people are lazy, Italians are wife beaters and so on.
A few of these guys insisted and still insist on lumping every Maaco in the country into one category, ie. they all suck. And it's simply not true.
When the "all Maaco's suck" guys quit saying it, I'll quit replying to their bullshit. If they persist, so shall I. I enjoy making them look stupid.
What you see there is a reflection of the camera flash off the taillights.
If you notice, what you think you see as overspray occurs in precisely the same spot on both sides, right?
The "overspray" is where the tailight curves and for some reason the curves on both ends picked up the flash.
