I'm another elantra owner I've got almost 60K on mine and it runs hard as hell. There's no way after owning my elantra for the last 3 years that I would buy a base lancer, echo, corolla, civic, cavalier or any of the cars in the elantras price range. 140hp to the wheels from the mods republik is stating is attainable in this car just check elantraxd.com . You can talk shit about Hyundai for all the crap they put out in the 80's because it was crap. But what is being put out today is quality stuff. I'd be kicking myself in the ass if I would have bought a 115hp (flywheel) civic for 17k instead of buying my 140hp (flywheel) elantra for 14k that to this day the only problem I had was a broken power window switch (which was gladly fixed under the standard 5yr bumper to bumper warranty) These cars are definitely not pieces of shit that will break down after 30k miles (again i have almost 60k). Also remember that the elantra is lighter than most of the other cars out there. My car weighs close to 2700lbs, if you're looking for a good hp to weight ration this is a good choice. Another thing I love is pulling over and people asking me what kind of car it is... no one is gonna ask you a thing about a civic or lancer because everyone knows what they look like (there's a ton all over the place).
