Now as far as mono, what about pushing a dual voice coil sub? Can I run the positive to one of the positives of one voice coil, the negative to the other voice coil's negative, and then a wire from the other 2 not being used? Or something like that?
Not really going for competition, just want quite a bit of bass for the size(single 12 in a sealed box, or possibly ported-no huge bandpass though). And also want highs and mids to be clear and loud. Thanks for the help.
You'd want to wire together the positives and then wire together the negatives on the sub, then onto the amp...if that makes sense. I'm using a JBL 600.1 right now, which I think would work well for you...plus they're extremely affordable. I paid $200 for mine. Puts out 600w RMS and is even said to be a underrated. There's so many subs out there, something like a 12" Kicker L5 would probably be in your price range though and sound great.
