0 reviewsHad a little scare yesterday during test panic stops down from 70mph and the noise was like I never heard before, a rumble like I was running over something combined with the tires protesting. Impressive braking though. This rumble almost drowned out the hard braking slot purr.
Basically its just the ABS doing its job and to me a new experience. We have all heard and felt the ABS cycle during lower speed wet or sandy/gravel conditions.
During a panic 70 to 10mph on fresh dry pavement and good tires is a different animal. I thought something was wrong. The ABS has a much harder job to do under these conditions and this is what I heard.
I contacted a friend who after hearing me out said its normal and may lessen after more break-in and knowing I have a Foxwell ABS/Airbag scanner, out of curiosity told me to check for codes, try a brake pedal calibration, and see if it will initialize the ABS. He says if anything shows up I could lessen it some there.
So it gives me options, ABS Bleed Brakes, Initialize ABS, Calibrate Brake Pedal, and scan Codes.
If it will not initialize its already initialized. This mainly for replacing/repair ABS module work. It was initialized.
If the pedal needs calibration it will go through the steps telling you to press the pedal. If its already calibrated it will just indicate so. It needed calibration.
It found a code but before clearing it I used my HPTuners and OBDlink MX scan devices to see if they see it and they did not. There was no dash light. I have had my HPT and OBD devices connected recently with no codes shown and was curious. Interesting.
I reset it with Foxwell the scanner. For the most part if you have a dash ABS light your ABS is off line. I had a code but not showing on the dash.
After this it all settled down. It was there but lesser, and progressive in degree as I tried some panic 40mph to 5.
Now I have more of a normal looking bedded rotor with the Amber hue but can still see the machining. Feeling better now.Attached Thumbnails
