You are getting closer to resolution. I'd use the negative to amp side of the meter. You are looking for a amp or so draw, and the risk of blowing the little fuse again is high. Don't let the battery die or leave it dead - especially if it's freezing out. It will become useless. Put a trickle charger on it - $20 at walmart - until you can work on it.
