899 "doc fee" is pure padded profit. The most I have ever paid was maybe $149 doc fee, but if they want to play games I can do simple math and just subtract it. Say my max price is 35 Grand - they want 500 bucks for a doc fee, fine, now my max offer is $34,600 which allows them 100 bucks to sort papers. Take it or leave it, there are plenty of other cars to choose from. You would be surprised how many dealers eventually accept my price a day or a week later
