I started driving in 1978 most of the 6o's muscle cars that was up for sale back then was really wore out. The street racing I got involved with consisted of using the street lights to initiate the race. We would cruse "South Grand" street looking for a race. Cruse slowly, slower than the speed limit a challenger would pull up beside you and slow to your speed both stopping at the red light waiting for the green. No words needed to be spoken unless a bet was to be made. My 1967 Caprice with a 327 Carter 4 barrel and 2 speed power-glide transmission did well but not well enough to bet money on. It was very fun and never got a ticket because we always drove around looking before racing. To save gas we would pull into a parking lot near the street to watch others race. That is where crowds would gather and hoods would go up to show off, It was how we rolled back then...
