99+ G20 + GTiR = ??
Awesome-sauce? ...... I think so.
Anyone know anything about this swap?
Have any recent info about it?
I'll admit, I've not searched very thoroughly, but everything that I'm finding dates back 8-10 years, and is irrelevant now. A lot of stuff saying that if you're going to swap, you are limited to just the 1999 model year due to ECU issues. And that the GTiR swap is pretty much impossible, so you have to stick with the Bluebird swap.
But we all know how things like that change with time.
Ideally, I'd like to pick up a 2000+ G20 touring, or even the 2002 sport trim level, swap in the GTiR engine.
From what I know and have been able to figure out thus far, physically, it shouldn't be difficult to get the engine in the engine back, and you should (key word, should) be able to just bolt up the block to the stock tranny.
The problem comes with the wiring and making everything work. If I were to pull the trigger on this, I'd want everything to function like stock.
