Not that its the right way to do it, i just thought if add...The clip isn't weighted or rotating so if it weighed a gram less from shaving off a side your not going to damage your brakes. I know it's super cheap and is a safety matter but as long as the clip is not getting hung up on the caliper and still makes contact on the entire area (if you started with a 26 and then got a bigger caliper it may pose a problem) i wouldn't think twice about it. Race cars run no spring clips on the regular (I know you aren't in a racecar..) but it is almost completely to get rid of chatter and make assembly easier. I don't see how that clip will ever resist against a piston so I'm not so sure on even wear being so much a factor.
