having a higher entry speed while sideways usually allows you to pass the person in front of you if they are sliding as well . if you can hold the drift at a higher speed and pass the person in front you usually are considered better/the winner because of the ability to maintain a higher slip angle at a higher speed .


if you gripped the track that would be a time trial its not . i see no time clocks in drifting , its not somethign everyone likes , it is something i do .
